We all want to keep our families, our schools, and our communities safe from gun violence, which has become the number one cause of death for children and teens in the U.S.
I’m proud that Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence, has awarded me the 2026 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction.
I support and advocate for common sense gun safety laws that not only protect innocent lives but also protect responsible gun owners. Having grown up in a family that put food on the table, in part, through lawful hunting, I understand the importance of using guns to provide for one’s family and the cultural importance of hunting. Communities can have both responsible gun ownership and safety for all, but we need to work across party lines to close loopholes and make it happen – which I am willing to do.
Gun deaths across NYS Assembly District 121 (2021-2025):
- Broome: 54 lives lost
- Chenango: 26 lives lost
- Delaware: 26 lives lost
- Madison: 30 lives lost
- Otsego: 28 lives lost
That’s 164 lives too many, and 15 more lives lost in a five-year period (2018-2022) than the last time I ran for Assembly in 2024. No one law can stop all tragedies, but there are critical, commonsense steps — with strong bipartisan support — we can take now to keep guns out of dangerous hands.
